The House of Commons public gallery burst into cheers this afternoon after Andrew Bridgen demanded Covid jabs be suspended, forcing the Deputy Speaker to intervene.

Speaking in the Commons, he drew links between a recorded rise in excess deaths in the UK and Covid vaccinations.

The MP for North West Leicestershire – who lost the Tory whip after comparing the vaccination rollout to the holocause – described the Covid vaccines as “the greatest medical scandal in this country in living memory”.

He told the Commons: “We are witnesses to the greatest medical scandal in this country in living memory, and possibly ever. The excess deaths in 2022 and 2023 is that scandal.

“Its causes are complex but the novel and untested medical treatment described as a Covid vaccine is a large part of the problem.

“I’ve been called an anti-vaxxer, as if I rejected these vaccines based on some ideology. I want to state clearly and unequivocally that I have not.

“I am in fact double vaccinated and vaccine-harmed.”

The North West Leicestershire MP added: “I’m proud to be one of the few members of Parliament with a science degree, it’s a great shame there are not more members with a science background in this place.

“Maybe if there were there would be less reliance on whips office briefings, more independent research and perhaps less group think.”

Cheers and clapping could be heard coming from the House of Commons public gallery following Bridgen’s contribution, forcing Deputy Speaker Rosie Winterton to intervene and threaten to clear the public gallery.

She interrupted, saying: “No, no, no, no. We would have to clear the gallery if clapping continues. I would order it if necessary.”

The safety of the vaccines has been extensively reviewed in both adults and children by the independent Medicines and Healthcare products Regulatory Agency (MHRA).

The MHRA are continuously monitoring the safety of the Covid-19 vaccines and reports of serious side effects are very rare.
