A neighbour row has erupted over noisy air conditioning units, with locals fuming that they “sounded like a jet engine” and that they “made an obnoxious smell”.
The residents on Wroxham Road, Sprowston, Norfolk, have claimed that the noises coming from a local dental surgery have made their lives miserable.
Friends Dental Practice had previously successfully applied for an extension to its building, with work carried out last year.
However, things quickly turned sour, as in July neighbours started suspecting that the planning permission was allegedly being breached, reporting it to the authorities.

They then became unhappy with the three aircon units placed on the side of the new extension in October.
The locals reached out to Broadband District Council, Sprowston Town Council and Norwich North MP Chloe Smith, pleading for help following the “huge intrusion” into their lives.
The unnamed residents were unhappy that the Council had not intervened before the units were installed.
They said in the report: “The three fan exhaust units which are completely out of character, installed at a high level in a domestic area passageway, they sound as if there is a refrigeration lorry parked in the passageway.

“The exhaust pipe from the surgery suction machine sounds like a jet engine and the smell is obnoxious, therefore we are not able to open our windows or door.
“They are all causing a disturbance while we are sitting in our lounge or in our utility kitchen.”
The application for the three aircon units was then retrospectively turned down by Broadland’s planning department last week, describing their impact in terms of noise and disturbance as “unacceptable”.
Dr Zain Shamoon from the Friends Dental Practice said the aircon units had been carefully selected for “minimal noise impact” and that they have stopped using then.
He added however that the council had not “properly” inspected the situation, stressing that Wroxham Road is filled with “lots of traffic noise”.
Dr Shamoon said: “Despite our disappointment in the council’s decision, we remain committed to working collaboratively to find a resolution.
“Friends Dental Practice is dedicated to supporting the community of Norwich through our private and NHS dental services.
“We look forward to continuing our positive engagement with the council to address any concerns and ensure the harmonious coexistence of our practice within the community.”
