SWAMPSCOTT — The Swampscott for All Ages Committee and Swampscott Senior Center are sponsoring their second annual “Creating Your Healthy Aging Plan” conference Saturday, March 23.

The five-hour event, taking place at the senior center, will kick off at 9 a.m. The first hour will be dedicated to its more-than-10 vendors, where attendees will be given a chance to speak and learn about their services. Some scheduled vendors include Peabody’s Rosewood Nursing Home, Salem’s Brookhouse Home, Atlantic Hearing Care, and Care Dimensions.

The next two hours are slated to feature Dr. Wayne Saltsman, and estate-planning attorney Sarah Hartline from Margolis Bloom and D’Agostino.

The final portion of the conference will consist of a seven-person panel discussion, with representatives from assisted living, memory care, and rehabilitation facilities.

Council on Aging Director Heidi Whear said that while last year’s conference focused more on helping the caregiver, this year’s will be centered around seniors developing their own aging plans.

“In this time of very expensive care, home care costs $100 minimum per day If you don’t have those kinds of resources to look elsewhere. This conference is going to try and help you determine what those ‘elsewheres’ might be,” Whear said.

She added that the other focus of the conference is the “legal stuff,” such as elements of health care proxies and living wills.

The free conference has a limit of 100 attendees, and Whear said that currently more than 50 have already registered. Additional interested parties can call 781-596-8866 to sign up.
