24World Media has completed the rebuild of its five flagship outlets, returning CEO News Network, Prime News Times, Trending News Talk, Official News Web and Big News Canada to daily publishing on a clean, common WordPress standard.
Each site went through the same programme. Everything legacy came off: old posts, scraped and feed-imported material, unknown users and accumulated plugin residue. Each title was then rebuilt from a verified backup: a fresh WordPress installation, a shared design system with its own brand treatment, exactly the plugins the standard allows, and reader registration closed. What had grown over years into thousands of imported items is now a smaller, honest archive of original stories written for each outlet.
The standard every rebuilt outlet meets
- Original content only. No RSS imports, no scraping, no copied feeds. Stories are written for the outlet that carries them.
- Distinct coverage. The same story is not cloned across the network. United States coverage leads on the U.S. titles; Big News Canada is Canada-first across its provinces, parliament and hockey desks.
- Named desks. Stories run under named newsroom desks and categories, with corrections handled in the open.
- Security and backups. A minimal audited plugin set, closed registration, monitoring and a verified backup for every site.
A word on what “a smaller, honest archive” costs. Years of imported material made the old sites look full — thousands of items — but those imports were never written for the outlets carrying them, and the unknown user accounts and plugin residue that came with the old installs were liabilities, not assets. Starting from a verified backup meant the rebuild knew exactly what was underneath: a fresh WordPress installation, the shared design system with each brand’s own treatment, and only the plugins the standard allows. Reader registration stays closed because an open register on a news site is a spam queue with a login form.
What happens next
The flagship titles now publish daily, one to two original stories per category, building the archive depth their section fronts are designed for. The remaining titles in the network directory follow the same programme in sequence, and their directory status changes as each completes. The daily rhythm is deliberate. One to two original stories per category is enough to fill a section front over weeks without forcing the thin filler material the rebuild was designed to eliminate. Depth, in this model, is measured in original stories per section, not in imported volume — and each title’s directory status changes only when it meets the same standard the flagships met, in the order the rebuild programme reaches it.
