GB News presenter Patrick Christys has candidly recalled his past battle with alcoholism, which he admitted left him “on the brink”.
Opening up to hosts Anne Diamond and Stephen Dixon, Patrick was joined by partner Emily Carver has he detailed his struggles and the “double life” he was leading.
Patrick told GB News: “I just wanted to come on today and and firstly say thank you very much for having me. But also just to say that there’ll be millions of people waking up this morning who are sick and tired of feeling sick and tired.
“There’ll be millions more, whether it’s husbands, wives, partners, loved ones who are also feeling at their wits end about this. And I just wanted to give a couple of very, very clear messages really, which is that your rock bottom with alcohol is wherever you say it is. OK, you do not have to wait to have actually lost everything.
“I was right on the brink. I was waking up in the mornings, throwing up blood, couldn’t go an hour without a drink. I was probably only a couple of weeks away from losing my job here. I was right on the brink, unfortunately, but understandably.
“Of course, with my personal relationship with Emily, the place that I was living, I was about to have have lost that. But I got it just in that nick of time.”
