John Lennon and Yoko Ono's One To One concerts at Madison Square Garden in 1972 will return in a restored, re-edited concert film, Power To The People, with a four-disc deluxe box set including the documentary One To One: John and Yoko, to be released on April 9, 2027. The announcement was made on Lennon's birthday, October 9, by Sean Ono Lennon, Mercury Studios and Universal Music Group, according to the UMe announcement carried by music press.

The two sold-out shows in August 1972 played to a combined 40,000 people and raised over 1.5 million dollars, equivalent to about 11.5 million in 2026, for children with intellectual and developmental disabilities. They were the only full-length concerts Lennon performed with Ono after leaving the Beatles, which is why the footage has carried its charge for fifty years. The new version has been in restoration for over twenty years: original negative trims hand-cleaned and retransferred, the film reordered, re-synced and re-edited into a multiscreen presentation, with music produced by Sean Ono Lennon and mixed by Paul Hicks and Sam Gannon. A two-disc option accompanies the deluxe edition, and pre-orders are open.

Entertainment coverage is an industry story wearing a costume. Behind every release date sit rights, restorations, restorations budgets, marketing windows and an audience whose habits keep moving. The desk reports the work itself first, the business second and the speculation, labelled as speculation, last, because readers can tell when a story is a poster with paragraphs attached.

Archive releases live or die on whether they add anything to what fans already own. A multiscreen reconstruction of the only full Lennon concerts of the era, restored from the negative rather than upscaled from tape, is a genuine addition to the record, and it arrives with the award-winning documentary as its companion rather than its bonus.

The box is dated for April 2027, which gives the campaign a long runway of restored clips and anniversary coverage. For collectors, the questions are the usual ones, the completeness of the set lists and the sound of the new mixes, and those will be answered by the first excerpts released before the box itself. Reporting note: this story was checked against at least two reputable reports or official records before publication, and it will be updated if the responsible authorities, leagues, companies or researchers publish materially new verified information.
